Dr. Brian Lynch - Twelve Steps to emotional health.If we, as humans, have anything in common it is that we want to “feel” good more and “feel” bad less.  That is “Affect Psychology.”  This is the place to start.

This site is comprised of a collection of work by Dr. Brian Lynch, a family doctor whose patients have benefited tremendously from his approach which is based on “Affect Psychology” and the work of Silvan S. Tomkins. 

People who are emotionally healthy have:

  • A sense of contentment.
  • A zest for living and the ability to laugh and have fun.
  • The ability to deal with stress and bounce back from adversity.
  • A sense of meaning and purpose, in both their activities and their relationships.
  • The flexibility to learn new things and adapt to change.
  • A balance between work and play, rest and activity, etc.
  • The ability to build and maintain fulfilling relationships.
  • Self-confidence and high self-esteem.
  • Ability to abstain from addictive drugs.
